Prasagraj: Sangam City on Friday reported as many as 19 cases of new dengue fever, taking calculation to 891.
New cases detected from Rajapur (1), Dhoonanganj (1), Teliyarganj (1), MumfordanjGanj (1), 1), Chota Baghara (1), Kareli (1), Katra Lama (2), Mundera (1), Bhulai Ka Purwa (1), Jhunsi (1), Jalan Katju (1), Salori (1), Sulssarai (1), 1 ), Naini (1), Mauima (1) and Ukwa (1).
Of the 19 cases, 17 came from the city area, while resting two of the rural areas.
In addition, of the total 891 cases of dengue fever in the district so far, 643 was reported in urban bags, while the remaining 248 in rural areas.
The number of cases detected in city pockets on Friday has left confused health department officials.
They are now running from the pillar to the post to check the spread of diseases transmitted through vectors.
Officials said that consciousness campaigns had been taken in more than a dozen areas where cases were reported at frequent intervals.
The Ministry of Health team, after witnessing a significant surge in dengue cases in urban areas and semi-urban areas, have intensified the drive of anti-larval spraying in the city area including Katra Old, Rajapur, Chota Baghara, teliyarganj and side by side.
A senior health official said more than a dozen the health team continued to make the residents aware of the preventive measures to examine the spread of dengue fever and had appealed them to use mesh and mosquito repellent.
He added that the door-to-door campaign was also taken in an infected area, to find the factors behind a constant increase in cases of dengue fever.
Fogging and anti-larva spraying exercises have also been intensified in the pockets of the city and trans-ganga and Yamuna regions, adding the official.
