GADAG: Even though BJP has fewer members in Kalaburagi and Davanagere City Corporations, MLC and members of Rajya Sabha have shifted their housing addresses to their respective cities to capture power in urban city agencies.
Now, following the same tactics, Congress MLCS Mohan Kondajji, Saleem Ahmed, Prakash Rathod and Rajya Sabha Member L Hanumolahah has proposed the status of ordinary citizens in Gadag-Betger, where the Congress has 15 members.
BJP has 18 chairs here but if the Congress legislator is appointed in the voter list here, it can be in trouble when trying to claim the majority.
Kondajji said: “This trend was initiated by BJP itself in Kalaburagi and Davanagere.
Now we do the same in Gadag to teach lessons to power in the state and in the middle.
We do not violate any rules in this procedure.” Representatives Congress has provided several local addresses in their application.
Apart from 15 members, Congress expects support from two independent members who are Congress rebel candidates.
If the three MLC names and members of Rajya Sabha are added to the City Voters List, the strength of the Congress will increase to 21 and it might get a President’s post at the Gadag-Betgeri City Council (GBCMC).
The district administration is confirmed that three MLC and MP (Rajya Sabha ) has submitted a request to induce their names in the voter list, on January 14.
“According to the norm, applicants must be the occupants of the area concerned at least for 6 months.
We will discard the application according to the rules of the Election Commission,” said the source.
Interestingly, the BJP MLC S V Sedukanur, which comes from Gadag, has shifted the housing address to the Dharwad where BJP can get a majority.
When BJP was in trouble in GBCMC, he allegedly returned to Gadag to ensure that BJP came to power in his home city.
