Hubballi: In a quick police action, a man who robbed SBI Bank in Koppikar Road by threatening the cashier and the manager with a knife was arrested in a few minutes after the crime was here on Tuesday.
Two police officers – a Hawaldar at the suburban police station and traffic police – chasing and arresting charges when he tried to attack them with sharp weapons.
The public also helped the police and they could arrest robbers within 10-15 minutes after he robbed the bank.
Allegations have lived in the cottage in Hubballi for two days and studied the style of the bank function before planning to rob at lunch, said a manager of the Bank’s source of Rohit Sonawan told Ti that a man wearing a knife and holding a knife entered the cashier cabin 2 PM and 2.30 in the afternoon .
“There were only four-five customers at the bank and he threatened me and the cashier by brandishing a sharp weapon.
He struggled us and took more than Rs 6 lakh from the drawer and escaped,” he said.
“We lifted alarms and people outside the branch trying to catch him but in vain.
Police police and traffic served near the branch, chasing him and arrest him,” he said.
Umesh Bangari, a traffic police attached to the South Traffic Police Station, and Manjunath Hallavar, Hawaldar, arrested the defendant.
“We saw several people running behind a man wearing a monkey hat, but they were afraid to approach him when he held a sharp weapon.
But we chased him to the metropolis and arrested him.
We then took him to the station,” said Manjunath.
“The defendant also tried to attack us with a knife, but he missed.
We kept chasing him and arrested him within 10 to 15 minutes after he robbed the bank,” he added.
Police Commissioner Labhu Ram said the defendant of the Vijayapura district and worked in a private company in MySuru.
“We did not reveal the name of the defendant because it would hamper our investigation.
We have restored Rs 6.39.125 and a knife from the defendant.
The case has been registered at the City Police Station and we are investigating this case,” he added.
