Trichy: The case of Covid-19 active in the city of Trichy has dropped to the lowest in the past two months.
On February 12, the city only recorded 142 active cases that were only 20 who were hospitalized, with the majority of housing isolation because the covid treatment center was closed.
While the drastic decline in new cases and active cases has affected people’s interest in vaccinated, officials expect protection to dip further.
The number of active cases, which is close to 1,500 in mid-January, gradually fell since early February.
Of the 1,464 active cases on January 12, the number fell to 142 on February 12.
At present, the total number of active cases in the city is lower than December 1, 2021.
Among the 142 active cases, PONMAII and K Abishekapuram zone alone accounts for 82% of cases.
Ariyamangalam and Srirangam only have 10-15 active cases each.
Only 20 positive cases are under hospitalization, whereas, Ariyamangalam zone has zero inpatient cases.
Fresh infections also fell from around 300 cases in January to 30 cases on 12 February.
However, in the past month, the city has reported 32 Covid-19 deaths.
Most of them are Septuagenarians and Octogenarian, health officials said.
“Even those cases peaked because of the spread of omicron, vaccination demand was bad.

At Trichy City, around 91% of the qualified population have taken the first dose, while 73% have completed both doses.
On average, around 3,000 people took Jab in the city in January 2022 per day, but it has dropped to 1,854 per day now.
