Colombo: Sri Lanka Cricket on Friday forbade Senior Disal Mendis players, Niroshan Dickwella and Danushka Gunathilaka for one year and also imposed a fine of 10 million Sri Lanka rupees on them for violating the Covid-19 protocol on England’s tour last month.
The trio was caught on camera on the streets of Durham during the limited overs series, which was a violation of bio-bubbles and they were sent back home into the tour and suspended.
They also faced the discipline committee led by retirees, who recommended a two-year ban for Disk and Gunathilaka along with 18 months sanctions for Dickwella.
But on Friday, the SLC committee decided to ban them from international cricket for one year and six months from domestic cricket.
There will also be a sentence suspended from one year to apply for two years as long as there are other violations of the players.
Three charges that SLC have brought are: “placing in the dangers of the safety of players by violating Covid-19 safety guidelines, including instructions from team management.” Also violated their team hours in their hotel room at 10:30 a.m.
and the latter but did not least carry destruction to the country and cricket board.
“The SLC Executive Committee has also recommended a required counseling under the doctor recommended by the council.
