Karachi: Senior Pakistani Fast Bowler Wahab Riaz may be disappointed with the exception of the national team for the away series against England and West Indies but still hiding dreams of playing the ICC T20 World Cup starting at the UAE and Oman from October 17.
Speaking of media in Lahore, Speedster left arm said he was not aware of what Pakistani voters had for senior players.
“Obviously, I was disappointed with my exception of a British tour and WI after my recent show.
But the selection criteria are questions for the selection committee but I think anyone who performs well must be chosen,” Wahab said.
“They might have their reason but as a senior player I was disappointed because of losing,” he added.
The 36-year-old has played 27 tests, 91 ODIS and 36 T20i for Pakistan with 237 numbers across the format.
“I have not given hope to play in the world of T20 this year and I think senior players as long as they are fit and appear to be considered for selection,” he said.
Wahab is still not sure what “problems” do the selection with senior players.
“I don’t know exactly what people have with senior players.
Maybe children listen to what they tell them, while the elderly always has their own words in terms and you have to convince them,” he said.
The Selection Committee is currently led by Muhammad Wair and coach’s head, Misbah-UL-HAQ has since last year ignored senior players such as Wahab, Muhammad Amir and Shoaib Malik and also dropped another senior, the Wasim Imad for serial series but had remembered it for T20 , Suitable in England and West Indies.
