Annual consumer electronic shows (CES) are always a platform where new technology is introduced.
At CES this year for TV, it’s QD-OLED, upcoming new display technology this year.
In the last or more decade, we have moved from the LCD, causing OLED and QED, and now there is QD-OLED.
Here we explain what QD-OLED is and how it works.
What is QD-QLED? QD – or quantum point – actually small semiconductor nanoconductor.
This nanocrystal lights up certain colors and activated by light.
What the next one is a brighter, natural and accurate image in color reproduction.
QD-OLED took the existing OLED technology and made it better with the help of the quantum point.
The OLED display is always much better than the LCD and QD-OLED makes it much better.
How do QD-OLED screen work? Samsung is one of the main driving forces behind the QD-OLED screen.
And the company explains how it works.
The QD display is a self-luminous display and consists of a TFT layer – electronic circuit that controls the light transmitter layer -, light sources that emit light, and QD light transmitter layers that express the color using the light emitted from the light source.
The QD display uses blue, which has the strongest light energy, as a light source to achieve relatively bright luminance.
The blue lights produced from the light source from the QD screen have very high color purity, and red and green QD that produce color by receiving blue light also produces color light with high color purity.
All of this joins in the QD display to provide natural and brighter colors on TV.
What are the advantages of QD-OLED? The quantum point can reach a higher level of brightness and also quite stable.
What will be done is avoid the TV from the suffering of all types of ‘burns’ on the screen.
QD-OLED will also ensure that the color is not too washed away.
The QD display allows a high contrast ratio of 1,000,000: 1 because of darker black expression.
‘Traditional’ screen has a 100,000 contrast ratio: 1.
Samsung claims that in the visible spectrum, short blue wave light with a wavelength between 41 nm and 455 Nm is known to affect sleep by increasing eye fatigue and suppressing melatonin secretion with short wavelengths and energy strong.
What QD-OLED does is to optimize blue light exposure to ensure a more comfortable watch experience.
How much is the QD-OLED TV? Prices have not been revealed but we expect it at a cost of a little more than the usual OLED TV and LED.
Samsung and Sony already have a plan to launch a TV with this new technology in 2022.
However, the price and date of the launch still have not been revealed.
