Colombo: Sri Lankan players who intend to get out of international cricket need to provide a three-month notification period and wait six months after retirement to get the NOC to play in the T20 league based in franchises.
This guideline has been issued by Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) in an effort to stop premature retirement players and its existence to a profitable T20 domestic league.
According to the guidelines, the players also need to play at least 80 percent of domestic matches in one season to be eligible to display in the Landa Premier League (LPL).
The SLC decision came after Danushka Gunathilaka and Bhanuka Rajapaksa announced their retirement.
While Gunathilaka stopped testing cricket, Rajapaksa retired from all forms of international cricket.
“National players who intend to retire from national cricket must provide three months notice to the Sri Lankan cricket from their intention to retire,” SLC said in a statement on Saturday.
“Retired National Players who want to get ‘No Certificate of Objection’ (NOCS) to play in the Foreign Franchise League will only be issued for these players who have completed six months from their effective pension date.” Retired national players will be considered eligible for.
