Dharwad: Trust of National Warning Dr.
Da Raa Bendre in Dharwad has struggled to implement its main projects because of the crisis funds and “stepmother my stepmother” against the state government.
Laureate poet and Jnanpith Dattatraya award recipient Ramachandra Bendre stands high among those who bring fame to the city as a center of music, literature, art and culture.
The state government, in recognition of its contribution, established a National Warning Warning Dr.
Da Ra Bendre and built Bendre Bhavan, an impressive structure adjacent to the Poet ‘Sri Mata’ residence in Sadhanakei.
Since the beginning of the past two decades, Bendre Bhavan has maintained his inheritance through his works, portraits, poems and rich libraries.
Bhavan accommodates a library that has more than 500 books, many of which have been written by Bendre.
There is an auditorium to arrange programs such as ‘Geleyara Gumpu’, award presentation and the like.
This gallery has rare photos that describe the life of Bendre and its relationship with other literary stalwarts.
MM Kalurgi was the first chairman of Bendre’s warning guardianship and he was replaced by Shamsundar Bidjundi.
Danayya Manganaya Hiremah is the chairman of this trust.
Trust has received a raw agreement by the sequential government and Covid-19 pandemic and cutting annual grants have paralyzed trust activities.
Initially the government had sanctioned RS 15 Lakh against trust as an annual grant and reduced to Rs 5 Lakh during the Kumarswamy HD regime.
After repeated appeal, the government has now raised it to Rs 15 Lakh.
Last year, Rs 12 Lakh was released and the last installment was waiting.
This year, only 50% of the funds were released, said Hiratha.
“We have a plan to establish amphitheater in place so that social drama is written by Bendre Canbe enforced.
But there is no positive response and encouragement that comes from the government,” Hirpath said.
Apart from the crisis funds during the pandemic, trust has been able to do 100 programs through a webinar to mark the birthday of the birth of 125 bendre.
Lake Sadhanakeri and Park opposite the Bendre’s house is beautified under the ‘Baaro Sadhankeri project but because of poor management, lakes and parks are in bad condition.
Bendre Bhavan also needs big repairs.
Trust has an ambitious plan of the Bendre’s plays staging at Shakespeare Auditorium in the UK.
Talks are underway with non-resident kannadigas in the UK and they agreed to help, add Hirathak.
