Dharwad: The premature rain that attacked the four regions of the Mumbai-Karnataka region continuously for four days in the third week of November had destroyed the expectations of farmers who expected the recovery of their losses to suffer in August and September.
Of all four districts, Dharwad suffered maximum losses followed by Gadag, Haveri and Besagavi.
In accordance with the initial estimate, plants worth RS 300 Crore are damaged in the region.
The report said the cotton plants and red chili had suffered severe damage, followed by gram, corn, jowar and rice.
Cotton farmers continue to face the burden of rain because cotton planted in several parts of Dharwad, Navalgund, Kundgol, Mggund, Mundaragi, Nargund Taluks has lost gold results.
Bengal gram has also been lost in 40,000 hectares.
In Athani, the wineries in 500 hectares have also been damaged.
Ruped farmers so far only a small portion of farmers who receive temporary compensation for nearly 95% of farmers, especially in Gadag Regency, relieved has been difficult to understand.
In the Dharwad district, RS 74.4 Crore compensation has been disbursed to 93,401 farmers who experience plant damage.
These thanks to the interests shown by the Minister of Sugar and Textile Shankar Patil Munenakopp who is a minister responsible for the Dharwad district.
But the same enthusiasm was not seen from the minister and other legislators in Gadag District.
Nearly 99% of farmers who suffered plant losses due to heavy rains in the district had not received compensation for Kharif Season 2021, said Somanagouda Patil of Ron Taluk.
“We lost agricultural plants such as peanuts and corn and horticultural peanuts and onions.
The government has improved compensation of Rs 6,800 per hectare for agricultural crops.
Revenue officials said they had done their work by uploading information about the level of losses suffered by farmers Agricultural and horticulture officials.
But until now, only 2% of farmers receive compensation and it is also no more than Rs 500, “said Somanagouda.
The situation is similar in the Taluk of other Gadag Regency.
Farmers from Gadag, Mundaragi, Shirahahatti and Nargund Taluk echoed the same complaint and blamed the selected representative because they did not disturb farmers.
“Our selected representatives, regardless of their political affiliation, are busy fighting for their own purposes and have ignored voters,” said Basanagouda from Itagi Village in Ron Taluk.
Now, Agriculture Minister BC Patil has been appointed as the Gadag District Minister and must be seen whether he will come to save farmers.
The farmers, who have been responsible for losing plants, said plant insurance had become a mirage because no one listened to their misery.
The allegations are loud that selected representatives are in gloves with insurance companies and together they cheat farmers.
