PUNE: While standing in his introduction Test as umpire at Kanpur at 1973, Madhav Gothoskar was contested from the then English skipper Tony Lewis within a substitution rule.
Without pausing for another, he also recited the principles to Lewis.

Gothoskar (92) recited the replacement rule , without pausing for a moment, while narrating the episode on Wednesday.
His crowd has been convinced that Gothoskar has been among the greatest umpires the game has seen.
The former global umpire needed his listeners in amazement while being felicitated from Cricketers’ Foundation here on Wednesday.
Gothoskar obtained a cheque of Rs75,000.

With officiated in matches between the West Indies and England greats such as Clive Llyod, Viv Richardson, Marsh, Holding, Tony Grieg and Graham Gooch, Gothoskar stated he never felt that the strain prior to taking any on-field call.
“I went into the area for a lover of almost any cricketer, be it Indian or anybody else.
If you don’t have a favorite, it’s much easier to shoot tough calls,” he explained.

Tony Lewis and Asif Iqbal were all gentlemen, also.
