New Delhi: Google will invest up to $ 1 billion in partnership with Airtel India to provide affordable access to smartphones to more than one billion Indians and accelerate the use of cloud-based computing for business, the two companies said on Friday.
Investment will help Indian small businesses adopt digital tools because India works to adopt digital education, payments and e-commerce in the middle of a pandemic, Google said in blog posts.

It has faced legal issues with the Indian Competition Commission which said the company has misused the dominant position of its Android system in the smart TV market segment.
The regulator argues that smart TV makers do not have an alternative to Android and hence it is obliged to install the Google application.
Google has denied any violations, saying the practice of its periments obeys the law.
