Rajkot: A fisherman in Saiyad Rajpra’s village near Nava Bandar in Una Taluka from the Gir Somnath district crashed into a jackpot in a high sea after he captured a large catch of giant croofers or Ghol fish, which was very valuable for their air coils.
The total catch of fishermen Bhikha Puna is valued at around Rs 1.5 Crore to Rs 2 Crore.
Puna scored around 1,500 giant croaker near Vanakbara.
This is one of the rare cases when a fisherman can capture Ghol fish catching on Rs 1 Crore on just one trip.
According to industrial experts, Ghol Fish air bladder is rated around Rs 1 lakh per kilogram.
While fish varieties are found in Gujarat Coast, fishermen generally find 20 to 25 fish in one catch.
However, a very large capture rare, they said.
Fish Exporters, Kenny Thomas said, “Generally large fish is valued at around Rs 30,000 where the bladder is valued at around Rs 28,000.
Even small fish bladder takes around Rs 15,000 to 20,000.” According to Thomas, Ghol Fish Bladder enjoyed the big market in China , Hong Kong and other countries that are genrly used in making soup.
