Hubballi: A amateur cyclist, who has been driving for the past six years, developed chest pain when cycling from Hubballi and died in Shiggaon on Saturday morning.
The deceased was Basanagouda Shivalli, 35.
The incident occurred when he horsed to entertain his friends who were part of a 200km resilience trip.
Anand Baid, former Chair of the Hubballi Bicycle Club (HBC) and Hubballi representative for the Audax Club Parisien (ACP, Paris), told Stoi that 29 cyclists had signed up to rise resilience with the route to Hubballi-Shiggaon-Kitture-Hubballi.
“Even though Shivalli hasn’t registered for Saturday’s trip, he rises with his friends to comfort them,” he said, adding Shivalli has been a member of HBC for six years.
He has done 50 km in two hours, after that he suffered from chest pain.
He rushed to the Primary Health Center (PHC) in Shiggoan, where he breathed his last after 15 minutes, despite the efforts of the doctors to save him.
After the doctor claimed that he died of a heart stop, his body was handed over to his family members.
Baid also explained that they would not allow unregistered cyclists to take part in the event.
“Shivalli comes alone just to entertain other participants.
The organizer has nothing to do with this incident because they take efforts from registered cyclists about the risks involved.
In their part, participants rise by taking the necessary precautions,” Baid explained.
