Hubballi: With the election to Hubballi-Dharwad Municipal Corporation (HDMC) ended, the selected representative will soon start working officially.
The Civic body has come up with a plan to join two halls in the existing council building to make it a vast hall to meet.
Because the number of members has increased to 82 of 67, HDMC officials plan to expand the existing meeting hall to make provisions to accommodate all 82 selected corporators, communities that are nominated, officials and correspondents.
In 2018-19, HDMC decided to build a new meeting hall in the HDMC place, which was the estimated RS 14 Crore and now the cost of construction can jump to RS 18 Crore, said a source.
Because it is expensive, HDMC officials have decided to bring down the idea of building a new meeting hall and planning for the expansion of the meeting hall with the cost of Rs 1 Crore.
The plan involved joining the existing board hall with a dining room adjacent to him.
To join two halls, the walls between them must be destroyed, while the gap between them must be borne.
Seating settings must be made again, while false ceilings, and air conditioning and air cooling systems must also be expanded.
Suresh Itnal, Commissioner, HDMC, said that the proposal would be sent for the approval of the Regional Commissioner in Batawayavi.
After the agreement comes, the expanded and renovated hall will be ready in three to four months.
Until the extensive hall in the Board Building prepared, there were several choices including the Convention Hall in the New Cotton Market and Dr.
Kanki Kannada Bhavan in Adarsh Nagar to hold a general body meeting, added itnal.
