Cape Town: India will play matching the three formats on their tour in South Africa, starting with a three-match test series that began in Johannesburg on December 17, in a urge that is very much needed for the coffers of the master’s lack of money.
There will also be a boxing test for days in Pretoria (December 26-30) and a new year’s match at Cape Town (Jan 3-7), with a large number of vaccinated spectators expected to be allowed to enter the venue.
The current government legislation allows 2,000 fans to the sports stadium, but the Covid-19 pandemic line in the country during the coming month will determine whether the number is increasing or removed at all.
The number for new cases is currently among the lowest since the start of the Pandemic.
The team will live in Western Cape for limited overs matches, with three international international between 11-16 January in Paarl and Cape Town, and four twenty -20 clashes from January 19-26 in the same two places.
“South African Cricket was happy to welcome India back to South Africa, which significantly marked the 30-year anniversary of South Africa’s first tour to India after re-entering international cricket in 1991.
This tour confirmed our unique relationship with BCCI,” CSA Director Cricket Graeme Smith, said in the media release on Friday.
CSA has been hit hard by a number of tour cancellations since the start of Pandemi, not a few visits proposed by Australia this year were postponed indefinitely in February.
