Jeep India officially announced 7-seater SUVs that will come for India will be called ‘meridian’.
SUVs made by India will be the first Jeep 7 seat offer in this country, and will directly conflict with people like Toyota Fortuner, MG Gloster, Skodaq Skodaq, and other full size SUVs.
According to Jeep, his name has been inspired by the longitude of the ’77th East Meridian’ which passes through the length of India that connects some of the most beautiful states and cultures.
“Developed specifically for Indian customers, we have delivered sophisticated and capable SUVs ready to take advantage of a unique segment opportunity,” said Stelllantis India CEO & Implementing Director, Roland Bouchara.
Jeep said that meridians have been tested on every type of Medan in India.
According to Nipun J Mahajan, the head of the Indian Jeep, the company took a SUV on the way from Kashmir to Kanyakumari, covering more than 5,000 km which tested its performance, on various parameters of building quality, engineering, and capabilities.
Jeep claims that meridians will pack in unmatched performance, appearance, comfort and off-road skills in their categories.
Along with the name, the company also revealed the SUV version disguised.
That said, the 7-seater SUV to come is expected to display the same front fascia as Kompas.
The dashboard layout of the meridian can also be similar to the biological size of the 5-seat SUV.
However, the meridian is likely to be offered with a configuration of 6 and 7 seats.
While the specifications and pricing will be announced closer to the launch in the mid 2022, the meridian will sit on the compass in the Indian Jeep Portfolio, and is likely to be preached to the North Rs 35 Lakh.
