Leeds (United Kingdom): Joe Root matches the British record for most centuries in a calendar year when he compiled hundreds of years 2021, against India in Headingley on Thursday.
Only Denis Compton (1947) and Michael Vaughan (2002) previously scored many hundreds of tests in the calendar year for England.
Root completed the third one hundred in as many matches as possible on the second day of the third test at Yorkshire’s house when he cut Sharma Ishant through the middle of twice 124 balls faced.
He finally came out for 121 when he was detained by Jasprit Bumrah.
These innings followed 109 in the first test damaged by rain in Trent Bridge and 180 it did not come out during a 151-run victory in India in God who put tourists 1-0 in the five-match series.
