Dubai: England Captain Joe Root Pipped Speed India Spearhead Jasprit Bumrah and Pakistan Shaheen Afridi to claim Cricket Council International (ICC) ‘Player of the Month’ Honor for August follows Heroik Batting in the last test series against India.
Among the women, Irish all-round Eimear Richardson took awards for last month.
The root scored 507 runs in three tests against India in August, including three important centuries and forms pushing it to the level of the Batters test.
The five-match series ended suddenly when the final test must be canceled because of the Covid-19 outbreak in the Indian camp.
“With the hope and responsibility on his shoulders as captain, I was really impressed with how he led it from the front with a bat, and became number one ranking the dough test in the world,” former South Africa JP Duminy, one of the panelists in the ICC Voting Academy , say in a statement.
Richardson saw from the intense competition from his teammate Gaby Lewis and Thailand Nattaya Boochatham.
Richardson was put into a smooth versatile display at the T20 World Cup European women’s qualification last month, which caused him to be named ‘Player of the Tournament’.
He took seven Wickets at the economic level of 4.19 in the tournament, including important spells from 2/6 in the opening against Germany and 2/24 against Scottish toppers.
He also returned 2/0 and 1/22 against France and the Netherlands, because Ireland came second in their group.
His contribution goes beyond the ball.
He scored the crucial 49-ball 53 in their last match against the Netherlands and reached 76 walking in the tournament – returning that put him in the fifth position of the song Run.
“It’s very interesting to be nominated for ICC ‘Moon players’ for August and will now be chosen as winners just so amazing and degrading,” Richardson said.
“It’s good to contribute the overall appearance of the team in European qualifications and hopefully we have done enough to make the next stage and compete at the global level again.” The Richardson show was praised by Zimbabwe Pommie Mbangwa ICC Voting Academy.
“What a team wants to be for players to stand at this critical and eimear (Richardson) contribution with the beat and balls coming at the right time, consistent and very significant.”
