Hubballi: The Karnataka government has approved the construction of 100 buildings for police stations in various parts of Karnataka at a 200 crore RS cost.
The government intends to complete the formation of a police station in their own building in two years.
Of the 1,054 police stations in the state, 60 it was functioned in a rented building, 83 stations were in government buildings from various departments, and 76 police stations were in a building that was dilapidated.
Ma Saleem, Director General of Additional Police (administration), said to priority, in the first phase, the police station that functions in rented buildings will be taken in the initiative, and a new building built for them, where they have adequate land.
After the police station that functions in rented buildings shifted to their own building, then in the second phase, police stations in government buildings from various departments will shift to their own buildings, after being built.
“Already, the corporation of the Karnataka State Police Housing has initiated jobs related to the construction of the police station,” he added.
According to sources, since many years, the police department submitted a proposal for the construction of a new building for police stations throughout the state.
In many districts, the police station worked from a rental building and also a dilapidated building, because where the department did not have adequate space to accommodate personnel, the park seized vehicles, to conduct investigations, and interrogated the defendant and for other purposes.
Seeing the requirements for the police station, the government has recently issued an administrative approval for the new police station, and decided to build 100 police stations in two years, which was approved by Rs 200 Crore, the source added.
Waiting for the list: KSPHC The Karnataka State Police Housing Corporation Limited (KSPHC) Office Office said that they still had not received a list of official police stations from the police department.

“Construction was approved for two buildings at the Hubballi-Dharwad Police Commissioner.
