VIJAYANAGARA / KOPPAL: The authority of the Heritage World Heritage Hampi Area (Hwama) has sealed 53 named and resorts that have not been named and other companies operating illegally in the core zone of the Hampi World Heritage.
Commissioner of Hwama and Assistant Commissioner of Koppal, Gangavati Tahsildar, and other authorities told the owner to close the resort within 24 hours.
Authority has identified 53 illegal companies last month, where 49 named resorts.
Deputy representative of Hwama and Deputy Commissioner of Koppal ordered Commissioner Hwama in Hosapete to empty illegal resorts within 48 hours.
Authority has destroyed 19 illegal resorts in Gaddi Virupapur on March 3, 2020, after the Supreme Court’s order.
Lakh domestic and international tourists visit hampi every year.
Many local people establish resorts and hotels on their farmland to attract tourists to break the Supreme Court’s direction because the main plan has not been resolved in the core zone of the World Heritage Site.
“The north side of the Tungabhadra River in Garavati Taluk has 15 villages in the core zone and we have closed illegal resorts, hotels, and stopped commercial activities.
The owner has appealed time to empty, so we seal all commercial companies and handed over to all commercial companies.

He said illegal resorts and hotels were mostly operated in Anegundi, Ramadurga, Chikkaramar, Hanumanahalli, Sanapur, Virupapur Gaddi.

When contacted, Siddarameshwar Hiremath, Commissioner Hwama, said there was no provision for commercial activities in the core zone of the World Heritage Site scattered at 41.8 square kilometers.
“We often warn not to operate such illegal activities, but they do not follow our instructions.
Finally, we have sealed all the resorts and illegal hotels,” he said.
