Hubballi: During his first visit to Hubballi after being the main minister, Basavaraj Bommai visited the parents (memorial) of his parents to respect.
Then, he said that looking for their blessings was important to him.
His mother Gangamma Somappa Bommai died in 2002.
Bommai had a special respect for his mother’s deceased, in his memory he had published six books through trust since 2006.

Malikarjun Bommai aka Mahesh Bommai, a younger brother of CM and Vice President Gangamma Somappa Bommai Trust, told TOI that they had helped thousands of poor children with textbooks, notebooks and learning materials.
“We arranged the program on January 26, birthday birthday of our mother, in Hubballi, Savanur and Shiggaon.
We also encourage young writers and respect senior writers by presenting their awards and publishing their books since 2006,” he said.
Chandrashekhar Vastrad, who edited the books, said that they had decided to publish 10 themed ‘Avva’ (mother) books.
“These books can be in the form of genres – poems, stories, autobiography, novels or experiences of common people.
The first book about Mother, compilation of poetry by contemporary poet, published in 2006.
The following year, we have a second book that is a collection of stories about Mother by the author of a different Kannada story, “he said.
The next collection of works is related to the mother in large personality autobiography.
“We have collected the stories of Russian writers Maxim Gorky, Italy Littérate Gracial Garda, author of Hindi Mahashwetadevi, Marathi Writers Saneguruji, Pramod Karnad Writers Aanakru, Niranjana, among others, the theme like folklore, the mother in Kannada works, and mother in drama too Borne in the next works, “he explained.
“Although trust accommodates the program every year, the publishing of books requires time when they demand research.
Also, trust has institutionalized the Akka Award for women writers, Siri Janapada award for the Talent of Folklore and Aralu Mogga Award for beginner writers,” he added.
Veteran Bachelor Veeranna Rajur said the love of bommai and respect for his mother was extended to all mothers in the world.
“While participating in the Trust program, we have observed that bommai is a good reader, thinkers and literary fans,” he said.
