All eligible residents of eight villages in Koppal Regency have taken at least one dose of vaccine.
The coverage of 100 percent of the target population (18 plus) was achieved after tireless efforts from health and district officials, which handle vaccine doubts and persuaded people to get Jab.
There are a few examples where people dart their doors or make reasons to avoid the Covid-19 vaccine.
As in many places, the main concern is that the vaccine will lead to health problems, but officials explain how such concerns are baseless and that the benefits exceed any risks.
Eight villages where the 100 percent target has been reached is Katariki, Bellur, Dambralli, Tigari, Mattur, Banapur, Adavihalli and Talbal.
They are in Koppal and Yelburga Taluks.
In Katariki Village, 3,079 people have taken the first dose, Bellur 1,074, Dambralli 598, Tigari 1,119, Mattur 1,106, Banapur 1,190, Adavihalli 183, and Talbal 333.
Dr.
B Jambaiiah, Reproductive Health Officers & Nodal District and Nodal Officers for Covid -19 Vaccination, told Stoi that officials faced many resistance during the early days when the villagers believed rumors.
“Many who are afraid of vaccines may be dangerous.
Some others have their own theories to avoid shots.
People lock their homes or escape from the village when our health workers visited to investigate them.
Finally, we launch a big boost to create awareness in every village , “he said.
He added: “Using a few effective examples, we explain that vaccines are the only way to curb the spread of the virus and safe from Covid-19.
Our efforts have produced the desired results because everyone who qualifies in eight villages has taken the first dose .
We have declared these villages as 100 percent vaccinated, “he said.
A resident said that health officials showed a lot of patience to cleanse doubts and encourage everyone to get Jab.
“We all took the first dose and were waiting for our turn to take the second,” added the population.
