Dharwad: The lack of covaxin doses in the Dharwad district has left those who are looking for second doses in wheat.
For Covaxin, the second shot was due after 28 days and many were waiting for the interval.
In June, 26,420 people in all districts were given the first dose of Covaxin, and even though they were scheduled to receive the second dose in July, almost half of them could not take a shot on time due to lack.
Because it is not recommended to delay the second dose exceed six weeks after the first, many of their fears must repeat the whole process again.
They also wondered if the co-win portal would allow them to register again.
“I have been going to various vaccination centers who are looking for the second dose of Covaxin, but no one has stock.
We really don’t know what to do,” said a citizen.
Many citizens appealed to selected representatives, looking for their intervention to ensure the vaccination center is supplied with sufficient dose stock, but their requests are mostly lost.
Bharat Biotech’s Covaxin is available at Dharwad only in the third week of March, and when the shares began to run low in April, the authorities decided to use any stock available to manage the second dose.
As a result, only the Serum Institute of the Indian Covishield provided to those who are looking for the first dose.
Following the re-launch of the National Vaccination on June 22, more than 26,000 people in the district chose Covaxin.
The majority of them come from the city of Dharwad.
However, less than 50% of this has taken the second dose.
However, the health department officials insisted everything was fine and that fresh stocks would arrive “immediately”.
“This district has enough stock to manage 2,880 covaxin doses, and this has been distributed to vaccination centers.
No need to be afraid because fresh stocks will arrive shortly,” said an official.
