Udupi: Karnataka is ready to get three more material recovery facilities (MRF) in the next year through rural drinking water and the department of sanitation.
The first MRF Rural Karnataka has been operating since August this year at the Nitte Gram Pancayat (GP) limit in Karkala.
The first facility is to collect nearly 2.5 tons of dry waste every day, said Shahahath Kumar, the Sahas Zero Project Coordinator of Waste Management Pvt Ltd, which has facilitated the project.
He said work on three more projects was ongoing.
In Ballari and Ramnagar, construction work is underway, while in Dakshina Kannada, Leveling Level work in Yedapadavu is being taken.
The government plans to establish around 100 such projects throughout the state in the next three years, he said.
In Karkala, the pilot project is being managed by Mangala Resource Management Pvt Ltd.
The government has gave sanctions nearly Rs 2.5 Crore for projects that are also financially supported by local bodies.
It has the capacity to manage almost 10 tons of dry waste per day.
They collected dried waste from around 75,000 households and 6,000 small commercial companies at 42 GPS.
At the facility, where more than 30 people are employed, dry waste is sorted under 30 categories, baled and sent to the official destination.
The facility was founded on 1acre land, gathering waste from around seven GPS every day through a truck capacity of seven tons.
Miyawaki forests have also been developed and charging Borewell is being taken.
Recently, the CEO of ZP Naveen Bhat sent a plastic material that could not be recycled, commonly known as multi-layer plastic (MLP), to cement kilns for processing together with support from Hindustan Unilever Ltd.
