Karwar: Sadashivagad residents in Karwar, who went to Kabul in finding work two years ago, was happy to be back home, remembering anarchy and the next riot in Afghanistan.
Rajesh Paduwalkar reached Karwar from the airport of Goa around 11am on Tuesday.
He was tired and emotional when he remembered his last days in a war-hit country.
“I stepped on Kabul Airport two years ago, hoping to open a new chapter in my life, but for the past seven days, what I experienced was hell.
I was one of the lucky people having returned to India in a short time,” Rajesh said.
He worked at Ecologist, a European company which became a catering service for US Army Units based in Kabul.
“Everything exactly until August 14, when the Taliban will catch the city of Kabul.
I worked at a military base.
Around 4pm, the army siren went away, and we were asked to enter the bunker air strike afraid.
I rushed to the bunker who was crowded.
I live There for more than six hours, without sitting, “he said, adding that their company asked them to pack their bags on the same day.
“The US Army base is adjacent to Kabul Airport.
We hope to leave Kabul on August 15, but what is going on suddenly.
More than five thousand Afghans, including women and children, rushes to the airport and occupies the runway.
The plane that swung us to India did not land, and the crowd swelled.
For two days, we were stranded at the airport without a plane.
I think it was finally, “he said.
“But on August 17, the US Army arranged a plane, and we went to Qatar.
Even there, the view of the horror welcomed us.
More than 20,000 Afghans were seen crammed in a temporary shelter.
Forgot to get food on time, we even waited in Long queues to attend nature calls.
To avoid this, we stop drinking drinking water, while we go with pieces of bread.
Official Indian Embassy takes care of us.
“On Monday night, he reached Karwar through the Delhi-Goa route.
“Afghan dreams have been destroyed, and I apologize for them,” he said.
