Kolkata: Former Indian Batsman VVS Laxman was maintained as a bengal batting consultant, while Laxmi Ratan Shukla was appointed as coach under 23, marking the return to Cricket six years after he joined politics.
It will be a second round for the former Captain Bengal and AllRounder Shukla, who has retired from all forms of cricket to join the Trinamool Congress in 2016.
Shukla has become MLA from Howrah (North) and then he served as Minister of Sports under the Aroop of Biswas.
Shukla then made the President of the Howrah district from TMC but before the last assembly poll he descended from the post and quit politics to “concentrate more on cricket”.

Looking forward,” said the 40-year-old person about returning to Cricket.
Making a series of announcements in the buildup until season, the Bengal Cricket Association (CAB) also maintained Arun Lal veteran as the main coach, while promoting outward sources as a senior sided assistant coach.
Former Bengal Speedster Shib Shankar Paul was appointed as Bowling coach for all Bengal team.
“On behalf of the association, I hope the former Cricketers who have been given newer responsibilities are all the best and I am sure that they will be able to use their wealth of experiences to help the crickets Bengal get a victory in the upcoming domestic season,” Cab President Avehek Dalmiya said in a statement.
In women’s cricket, Rituparna Roy will become head coach while Charanjit Singh will be assistant coach of a senior Bengal team.
“We have made several new promises by considering their services and talents.
We want to cricket Bengal shine and we have made changes that we consider suitable for it,” said Secretary Kabik Snehashis Ganguly.
