KABUL: Veteran All-Rounder Mohammad Prophet has been named Skipper Afghanistan for the T20 World Cup that will come after Star Spinner Rashid Khan resigned from the captain protesting the election of the national forces without his input.
Afghanistan cricket board (ACB) has not officially announced the appointment of the Prophet as captain but everyone who was 36 years old tweeted that he had been chosen to lead the team.

In a surprising decision, Rashid on Thursday back as captain of the team, said that his opinion was not sought before completing the national squad for the T20 World Cup.
Rashid’s decision came as soon as ACB named it as captain of the team of 15 members for the exhibition.
“As the captain and the person responsible for the nation, I have the right to be part of the team election,” said the 22-year-old spinner in a post distributed on his Twitter handle.
“The Election Committee and ACB have not received my approval for the team that has been announced by ACB Media,” Rashid said.
“I made a decision to get off the role as the captain of the Afghan T20 side immediately effectively.

Afghanistan has been foggy after the takeover of the country by the Taliban.
Immediately after forming a temporary government, the Taliban prohibits women from playing cricket or other sports, casting doubts for the Afghan team test status.
According to the ICC rules, all nations play tests must have a female team too.
Cricket Australia (CA) all but was confirmed on Thursday that the opening test of his team’s side against Afghanistan, scheduled to start on November 27, will be removed because of the Taliban command.
