The New Zealand cricket fan will get the opportunity to celebrate the Black Caps’ Test Sprewionship (WTC) victory with several players after the State Council (NZC) said on Wednesday will hold a trophy tour throughout the week this month.
The Kane Williamson team won the first WTC title with an eight-goal victory against India Virat Kohli in the thrilling final on June 23.
“Quickly becoming clear that Kiwi wants the opportunity to be part of, and to share, this historic achievement,” said Chief Executive NZC David White.
“Initially, we thought the time-out in the isolation was managed and the length of time since the victory would dampen the enthusiasm for the public celebration, but we had been persuaded to think again.” A group of players and certain staff will join the parade in every place, with the Southee team Fast Bowler among those present when the celebration begins in his hometown of Whangarei on July 26.
The trophy parade will continue in Auckland, Taurangon, New Plymouth, Palmerston North, Wellington, Christchurch, Dunedin and Invercargill.
