MUMBAI: With the International Cricket Council (ICC) and the BCCI considering Muscat among the extra places for your T20 World Cup if the championship is transferred from India due to the pandemic, Oman has made it very clear that it is prepared to host the international occasion, if given a chance.
A last decision on if the event could be held in India or might need to be changed to the UAE is anticipated later this month using an ICC agreeing to provide the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) period until June 28 to choose the matter.
“The BCCI and the ICC should have a call on this particular matter.
We’d be thrilled to become a possible place for this,” Oman Cricket main Pankaj Khimji told TOI on Friday.
He maintained the Oman had the infrastructure to sponsor games of their T20 World Cup.
“Our centers have the acceptance of the ICC to platform T20Is, ODIs and we’ve got the ICC green sign to sponsor Test matches this season,” Khimji, that had been newly appointed since the vice-president of this Asian Cricket Council (ACC) stated.
The Oman Cricket Academy (OCA) floor in Al Amerat, nearby Oman’s capital Muscat, obtained Evaluation status this past year.
It’s staged ICC matches, and can also be licensed by the ICC to sponsor T20Is and ODIs.
According to resources, there’s a risk that Oman could point T20 World Cup qualifiers when the championship is transferred into the UAE.
Oman’s cricket team, trained by former Sri Lanka captain Duleep Mendis, will play at the championship.
