New Delhi: Thirteen years ago today (August 18), Skipper Virat Kohli took his first step on the international stage when he made ODI’s debut for India.
However, his task was in a short-lived fold when Kohli scored only 12 running in his first international match.
Kohli has opened Indian batting, and he faced 22 balls and struggled for 33 minutes on the fold before Sri Layan Nuwan Bowler Kwangekara fired him at eight.
The MS Dhoni-LED side was bundled for 146 in this special match as Ajantha Disked and Muttiah Muralithan both selected three numbers.
Sri Lanka chased the target with 91 balls to spare and beat India with eight goals.
Kohli had to wait 14 matches for his first century, and he finally violated the 100-run mark against Sri Lanka in Kolkata in 2009.
He then played the knock on 109 and this century was the first of many.
Until now, Kohli has registered 43 tons in ODIS and has set its image as one of the best running hunters in the history of cricket.
Skipper 254 ODIS India has played so far, in which he has scored 12 169 runs an average of 59.07 with a highest score was 183 against Pakistan.
The right hand batsman was in second place, just behind the legendary Cricketer Sachin Tendulkar in the list for most of the hundreds in Odi Cricket.
