Mangaluru: Only 6.4% or 17,304 people in the 60-plus age group in Dakshina Kannada have taken the Covid-19 vaccine booster dose after more than one month kick-off in January 10.

Senior citizens have received messages on their cellphones stating that they are eligible to take a dose after “medical advice”.
So, most of them have vaccination centers shunned because they are synched to take medical advice first.
“I want to take a dose of prevention, but the message is looking for medical advice.
Therefore, I have not visited the vaccination center,” said a senior citizen.
However, health officials said that all senior citizens were given a dose of precautions even if they reached the vaccination center without medical advice.
“In fact, the government introduced a dose of prevention to senior citizens with comorbidity.
However, we did not insist on medical advice.
We have managed prevention doses for all of which are above 60 if they have completed nine months after the second dose,” said Dr.
B RH, RCH, RCH, RCH, RCH, RCH told toi.
He said the reduction in the number of Covid-19 cases in this district also slowed down vaccination.
“Many are not advancing to take third doses because the district has experienced a steep decline in the case of Covid-19.
We have sufficient vaccine stocks in the district,” he said.
This district has so far provided a preventive dose to 39,449 people, including 17,578 health workers, 4,567 frontline workers and 17,304 senior citizens, he said.
