Mangaluru: This city is unlikely to face the crisis of drinking water during the summer of this year because there is enough inflows to the ventilation dam in the theme.
The Mayor of Premanand Shetty said on Monday City Corporation will direct AMR the power of the power to store water to the maximum level in their dam located above the ventilation dam.
The ventilation dam in the theme was built across the Nethravathi River supplies water to Mangaluru, Ullal, Mulki and many villages almost full because of an increase in inflows.
The seven meter high dam has water stored up to a full capacity of 14.78 mcm.
Even if there is no inflow, the water stored in the dam will be enough for 48 days, said the mayor, adding the city may not face this summer crisis.
About 160 months of water is pumped into mangaluru every day of the theme.
The water level in the thumb dam has dropped to 3.48 meters as a maximum storage capacity of 6 meters in 2019, before storage capacity increases to 7 meters.
Water cannot be removed if the water level reaches below 1.5 meters in the dam, officials said.
