Dharwad: Educational institutions must provide value-based education to help develop students as a whole, said the former secretary of PWD G C Talur.
Providing Endowment lectures from DC Pavate on ‘Education in India and Morality’ organized by the University of Karnatak here on Tuesday, he said the education system currently focuses more on making students able to be employed than to increase his knowledge.
Since the UK era, several commissions have been formed to suggest steps to improve education standards but none of those who have emphasized moral education, he added.
Some leading personalities including Mahatma Gandhi always struggle to include moral values in education but their advice has not been fully implemented, he urges.
Morality and spirituality teaching will help in the development of the entire student personality, Talur said.
Karnataka University Deputy Chancellor K Gudasi said the 2020 national education policy aimed at comprehensive change in the education system.
Here students have been given the freedom to choose their interesting subjects and more focused on research and development, he said.
NEP is Gamechangerthe the new education policy will bring drastic changes in the education sector and make India stronger and vibrant, he added.
At DR D C Pavate as a large scholar, visionary and administrator who are capable of being gudged asking students and staff to work for the progress of the university and bring it to a larger altitude.
