Melbourne: Australia Test Captain Team Paine is set to undergo surgery on Tuesday to get rid of disturbing neck pain in front of the ash series against England in December.
Paine, 37, feel confident to regain full fitness to lead the test team in ash this summer.
This operation is intended to improve the “nerve sandwiched in his neck”, which has stopped pre-season training with Tasmania.
“The consensus of the spinal surgeon and the CA medical team is to undergo surgery now, which will allow a lot of time to be fully prepared for the summer,” Paine said as quoted by Cricket.com.au.
“I hope to be back physical activity at the end of this month and return in full training in October.
I will be ready to take the first test and greatly look forward to what will be a big summer,” Paine said.
The first Ashes test is scheduled to begin on December 8 at Gabba.
Paine has had a series of surgery in the past and injured on his right index finger almost ended his career before he made an unexpected comeback to the side of the test in 2017.
He underwent seven operations to improve his finger.
