Prasagraj: With representatives of only seven Akharas from 13 members who attended a meeting called by Secretary General Akhil Bharatiya Akhara Parishad (ABAP) held at Sangam City on Monday, friction on the APEX decision-making agency in the country was quite clear.
The idea of moving from the main body was boiling since Hardwar Kumbh earlier this year when three Akharas boycotted Abap on the issue of land rations.
Three Akhara has not attended ‘Shodashi’ from Mahant Narendra Giri in October 5.
Three Akhara is ‘Bairagi Sect’, namely Nirvani, Digharhar and Nirmohi.
Then, on October 15, Secretary General Abap, Giri announced that the ABAP meeting would be held on October 25 in Prayagraj to elect Narendra Giri’s new president.
However, another meeting was held in Haridwar on October 20, which was attended by seven Akharas – Nirmohi, Nirvani, Digamber, Mahanirvani, Atlar, Bada Udasin and Nirmal.
Akhil Bharatiya Akhara Parishad was formed in 1954.
“This is not the first time there was a crack between ABAP the same as in 1974, 1984, 1998 and 2010.
We had differences of opinion, but we returned to support United and the same would be in 2021, “Said Secretary General Abap, Giri’s day.
