KABUL: Rashid Khan who was all in Tuesday was appointed as the Captain T20i Afghan team.
Rashid, one of the famous global faces of the game, was chosen by the Senior ACB leadership led by ACB Chairman Farhan Yousefzai, for roles considering his experience, brilliant performance and leadership skills with the national team for years.
Rashid Khan is currently a second ranked Bowler in the ICC T20i rank.
He is 31 points behind Table-Topper South Africa Spinner Tabraiz Shamsi.
Meanwhile, Najibullah Zadran has been appointed as the National Team captain for the format.
Afghanistan was placed in Group B for the T20 2021 World Cup with England, India and South Africa while the two remaining teams will be selected from the qualification.
The 2021 edition tournament is scheduled to be played October in the UAE and Oman.
Earlier this year, ACB members have approved a proposition to continue with split-captain for the national team.
The council also effectively releases Afghar as the captain of the men’s national team.
“According to the decision, Hashmatullah Shahidi’s left hander was appointed as a new ODI and the national team’s test captain while Rahmat Shah would serve as a captain’s deputy for both formats,” ACB said in the official release.
