Bagalkot: Minister of Water Resources Govind Karol said the main priority in the Krishna above project (UKP) was rehabilitation and resettlement (R & R) so that the state would be able to save its part from the 130TMC water from the Krishna set by Brijesh Kumar Tribunal.
Speaking to TOI on Saturday, Karjol smolded the previous Congress government which collected that they fulfilled the measures of the treatment of mothers with projects in North Carnataka including the upper Krishna project.
“We need space to save our water parts and for that we have to obtain the land , “Karjol said.
“The tribunal command has not been told in the sheet.
The problem is in the Supreme Court and the verdict is expected immediately.
Therefore preparation will start working to save our water parts.
When the altitude of the almatti dam increases to 525 meters, around 20 villages will sink.
We must obtain one lakh Hectares for rehabilitation of people from these villages.
Therefore, the priority is for rehabilitation and resettlement, “Karjol said.
The minister said 6,400 hectares would be obtained to build a rehabilitation center for people from 20 villages to sink.
Karjol blames the consecutive Congress government for delays in completing UKP work and said the state and central governments run by Congress did not provide adequate funds since 1956.
He reminded that people from the Vijayapura District who were not divided had burden the leaders of Indira Congress Gandhi, Lal Bahadurppa with Gold seek funds for UKP but the Congress government does not respond.
Between 1964 and 1983, only the RS 224 crore spent on UKP, he said.
Uncovering statistics, he said the Janata Party government spent RS 278 Crore between 1983 and 1989 while the Congress government spent RS 836 Crore between 1989 and 1994.
This is the reason why Karnataka cannot use 123 feet of water given to Karnataka by Bachawat.
, he says.
Tribunal Brijesh Kumar gave 130 feet TMC water to Karnataka on December 39, 2010.
The BJP government in the state has agreed to the construction of the rehabilitation center with a cost of RS 17,207 Crore and the acquisition of 1,34,000 hectares.
“The Congress leaders have taken a parade of Kudalahadang to Dam that promising for UKP not to take part in the promise when the party came to power in 2013.
Only Rs 7,728 crore spent, and 1,967 hectares were obtained, said Karjol, said Karjol.
Kumarswamy coalition government spent Rs 478 Crore While the Yediyurappa government spent Rs 1,165 Crore, he said, adding that for the third stage of UKP, the Government of Siddaramaiiah spent Rs 5,700 Crore, the Government of Kumarswamy Rs 600 Crore and the Yediyurappa Government spent RS 2,500 Crore.
Now for the third stage of UKP, the cost estimate is Rs 65,000 Crore Because the project size increases with changes in the land acquisition law and the center has responded positively to our request, Karjol said.
