Hubballi: If everything goes according to plan, the open land belonging to defense will be used for sports activities.
Former Chairman of the Jagadish Shettar Minister wrote to Defense Minister Rajnath Singh urged him to build a multipurpose stadium in 16 hectares of defense land in Vishweshwar Nagar.
Shettar said that 16 hectares of empty defense in Rajnagar Road in Vishweshwar Nagar remained not used for years.
Because the land is located in the heart of the city, it cannot be used for defense purposes.
Currently open land has turned into a landfill and is not properly maintained or cleaned by defense people.
“I managed to clean the ground using HDMC personnel,” he said.
“When the land is located in the heart of the city, it might not be possible to use it for a large project or for sports activities.
However, there is a need for multipurpose stadium in a room in Hubballi which can be built in the empty department of defense.
In this case, I wrote to the Minister of Defense Uni Rajnath Singh and had a one-to-one meeting during a visit to Delhi recently.
I also discussed this issue with the Union Minister Pralhad Joshi.
I will take this problem with the state government, “he added.
According to sources, during the discussion Rajnath Singh said there was no provision for the construction of a sports complex through the Department of Defense.
Then Shettar asked them to surrender land to HDMC or to the district administration.
There are opportunities for land exchange where alternative land can be given to defense, said source.
The Union Minister of Pralhad Joshi said, “Regarding the land of empty defense in Hubballi, I have discussed with Union Minister Rajnath Singh Two-three times.
