Mangaluru: Urban local body Someshwara and Ullal have stated plastic-free beaches after tourist destinations see an increase in footsteps.
Both urban local bodies have a driving beach hygiene on October 31 and stated the tourist destination of the plastic free zone.
Officials have been used by Someshwara Town Municipality and Ullal City Municipality to monitor the beach in their respective regions.
Income officials from urban local bodies have visited the beach every day to enforce a plastic ban.
While Someshwara Beach is close to Sri Somanaatha Temple, The Ullal Syed Madani Daraga is only 2 km from Ullal Beach.
Hundreds of tourists have packed religious temples and beaches after the district sees falling in the case of Covid-19.
Vani V Alva, Head of Officer of Someshwara Town Municipality, told Toi: “All shops in the city of the temple and the beach have been warned not to use plastic.
We have warned the cancellation of their trade licenses if they use or sell bags carrying plastic and other items .
