Chasing 121 for victory, South Africa played at home 14.4 with De Kock at 59 and Hendricks made 56 in the third T20 in Colombo.
South African Behler Bjorn Fortuin and Kagiso Rabada each took two goals to limit Sri Lanka to 120-8 after the host was elected first.
