Abu Dhabi: Skipper Afghanistan Mohammad The Prophet said he was quite “surprised” after Asghar Afghan told him about his decision to retire from Cricket International after the match against Namibia in the middle of the T20 World Cup.
Former Afghan captain, who holds a record of most T20i victories as captain, announced his decision to retire from all forms of cricket on Saturday night, less than 24 hours after Afghanistan’s heartbreaking losses in the previous match.

“Earlier, he (Afghan Afghan) told me that tomorrow will be my last game and I was surprised,” said the Prophet during the post-match presentation.
“It was his decision, he knew his career was better.
He has been captain for almost 6-7 years he is very consistent with his captain at T20IS.
