Dubai: ICC is sure that the team will not have a reservation traveling to Pakistan for the 2025 championship trophy even though more than a few decades are skeptical about playing in the world.
The ICC last week was awarded the rights of hosting from the 2025 championship trophy to Pakistan.
This will mark the return of the main cricket events to Pakistan after more than two decades.
The last time Pakistan had an ICC event on his land when he was accommodated with the 1996 World Cup along with India and Sri Lanka.
It has not been able to hold many international games in the country since the 2009 terrorist attack on the Sri Lanka team in Lahore.
“The answer is, of what we can see so far, of course (the team will travel),” said the ICC chair Greg Barclay said he replied to PTI’s request during the circular media table.
“The ICC Cricket event will return to Pakistan after years.
All of that with the exception of what happened in the past few weeks has advanced without problems at all,” Barclay added, who joined CEO CEO Geoff Altarardice.
In September, New Zealand and England have withdrawn from their bilateral tour to Pakistan because of security issues.
Barclay insisted that government agencies would not provide hosting rights to Pakistan if they were not confident it would succeed.
“So, we will not give the event if we don’t think Pakistan can accommodate it.” We think it is a pleasant opportunity, prospects for them to be able to hold a world event for the first time for a long period of time.
“” Not until 2025 and I am sure they will, because all countries are required to do it, compile the appropriate security plan and guarantee to ensure that they can be delivered.
“So yes, we feel comfortable and sure that we will go ahead,” Barclay added.
Indian participation in the tournament remains doubtful because there are no bilateral cricketes that occur between the two neighbors since 2012 due to diplomatic tensions after terror attacks in India.
The Minister of Sports Anurag Thakur last week said the decision on Indian participation in the Champions trophy would be taken when it was time for security problems for the international team to get around the neighboring state.
Barclay acknowledged that it would be a challenging problem to work and hope cricket can bring an increase in the relationship between the two neighbors.
“We know that it is a very challenging problem to do.
I mean, from my point of view, I can’t control the geopolitical strength that works on what we do.” But I just hope that cricket can be forced to improve.
relationship between them.
“One of the great things that sports can do is help bring people together.
So, if we can do something and in a small way to contribute to it, then it’s fantastic,” he added.
