Hubballi: For the first time, the Indian Election Commission (ECI) has adopted an online process for assembly selection in five states – Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Uttarakhand, Manipur and Goa.
It has entertained two young men from Karnataka – Lingaraj Niduvani, an environmental lover from Sherewad Village from Hubballi Taluk and Manojkumar MS, a professional software from Davanagere – who has appealed to this reform.
Niduvani told the Toi that they had communicated with ECI since April 2018, asked for an online nomination to avoid large demonstrations, shouting slogans, exploding, distributing leaflets, and blocking the road when nominated paper was being submitted.
“There are certain disorders, such as bringing paid workers and feeding them and supplying them with alcohol.
We approach ECI after considering air and voice pollution and traffic congestion during the nomination process.
The online nomination will avoid all this,” he added.
Manojkumar said that they even met Sanjiv Kumar, Head of Head of Karnataka Head (CEO) in Bengaluru pressed the online nomination for the selection of Sabha 2019.
“We have mentioned that when prospective jobs and bad beneficiaries of the ration card can upload all required documents, Why it cannot be done for the election nomination too.
Shows a positive response to our memorandum, the CEO has continued to ECI on May 9, 2018 “he said.
“ECI may have adopted the initiative after the Covid-19 pandemic.
Nevertheless, we are pleased that our request has been fulfilled and hopes the same procedure will continue for all elections in this country,” they said.
