Prasagraj: Akhil Bharatiya Akhara Parishad (ABAP), the peak decision-making agency of the 13 monastic orders recognized in the country, demanded strict action on Muslim religious leaders who supported the Taliban and takeover of Afghanistan.
Looking for action, Abap President Mahant Narendra Giri on Friday described religious leaders who supported the Taliban as “state traitors”.
Giri’s comments on Friday came a few days after MP the Samajwadi Party Shafiqur Rehman Barq was booked for incitement after his last comment, allegedly defended the Taliban Afghanistan takeover and equated it with the struggle of Indian freedom.
He said that after registering an incitement case against such religious leaders, they had to be placed behind the bar.
Giri also added that it was the government’s duty to decide on other state affairs and how to have a relationship with a particular nation and not the work of Muslim religious leaders.
“The Indian government monitors the situation in Afghanistan carefully and also does what needs to be done,” he said.
He also said that the Yogi government in the country has taken the right steps not to let terrorist organizations manipulate people who will assist in limiting “the spread of Talibani ideology”.
He also supports the decision of the government recently to open a training center in 12 places in the state, and said that it would help in fighting and revoking all types of terrorist activities in the state.
Responding to alleged Poet Munawwar Rana to the Taliban, Giri took a poet to support radical organizations.
“It seems that he (Rana) lost faith in the constitution of India and Indian people.
I advised him to leave India and went to the Taliban controlling Afghanistan when he supported the Afghan invaders,” Giri said.
On Thursday, the famous poet also called the Taliban “Rotten like the right-wing group”.
Giri further said that looking at the history of injustice and atrocities carried out in women in Afghanistan by the Taliban, Muslim women living in India must also oppose and boycott the Muslim religious leaders who support the Taliban.
He demanded “the toughest punishment for those who support the Taliban so that other people can learn from him and avoid taking such a stand”.
Giri also challenged the Muslim religious leaders who supported the Taliban and their courage to “leave India for the Taliban led Afghanistan”.
Giri added that by far bringing back the Indians stranded in Afghanistan, the trade union government took steps in the right direction and claimed that a large number of people had been brought back to India.
