TN Govt urged the center to produce 500 km as a national highway

Chennai: The Tamil Nadu government has urged the center to declare 500 km of roads in the state as a national highway, which was approved on these principles given by the Union of the Ministry of Transportation and Jalan Raya in 2018.
The state government also demanded that the center take the works Madurai Western Ring Road, Coimbatore Half Ring Road and Coimbatore-Sathyamangalam Road at 6,600 Crore.
The streets that want to be converted by the Government of the State Government by the NHS are Tiruvannnamalai-Kallakurichi (65km), Vallioor-Tiruchendur (70km), the hills of the Hills-Palar-TN extended to Mettur (30km), Palani-Dharapuram (31km), Arcot-Tindivanam (91km), mettupalayam-bhavani (98km), avinashi-mettupalayam (38km) and bhavani-karur (77km).
“The current condition of these roads requires immediate improvement / improvement to fulfill current everyday traffic.

The acquisition of 463.4 hectares of land is estimated to cost 536 crores, the Velu said.
Jalan Coimbatore-Sathyamangalam connects Ooty-Kothagiri-Mettupalayam-Sathyamangalam-Gobichettipalayam-Erode Road and Sathyamangalam-Bhavani Road.
Stretching from Coimbatore to Sathyamangalam which leads to Karnataka through Bukit Dhimbam is two lines with many curves.
NHAI has proposed four coimbatore-sathyamangalam lanings and two sathyamangalam-inter-state lanes for 90 km.
“The ministry can consider increasing the connecting road between countries for safer traffic flow in the smallest part of GHAT and the smallest traffic,” Minister said.
The cost of the project, including land acquisition, is 1,920 crores.
The state government also took out with the ministry needs to expand eight bypass in the Salem-Ulundpet section of the NH-68 to four lanes soon.

Between April 2016 and July 2021, 715 accidents took place, producing 169 deaths and 309 large injuries.
Incidentally, the upgradation of the Salem-Ulundurpet highway to four lines began during the previous DMK regime.
