WASHINGTON: US food and US drug administration said on Friday it shortens the interval between the Primary Series of Moderna Covid-19 vaccine and a booster dose a month for people aged 18 or above at least five months.
“Vaccination is our best defense against Covid-19, including circulating variants, and shortens the length of the primary series of series and booster doses can help reduce reduced immunity,” Peter Marks, Director of FDA biology evaluation and research, said.
This step follows agency decisions on Monday to reduce the interval needed to get a booster dose of the Pfizer vaccine and Bionech Covid-19 to five months from six, by saying such changes can provide faster protection against the omicron variant that spreads rapidly.
