Prasagraj: Hundreds of women related to the Swadaya Group (SHG) of 23 blocks of district development have been assigned to ensure the maintenance of community / general toilets built in their respective villages.
The Pancayati Department Raj has paid around RS 2 Crore to 566 SHG, which in turn, transferred money to women to maintain community toilets in their village.
“After the construction of community toilets at the Level of Panchayat, Chairman of Yogi Minister Adyityanh has instructed officials to provide the responsibility of the maintenance of these toilets to the women of SHGS,” said Panced Panced Raj Sinha (DPRO).
According to the information received from the government, Prayagraj stands seventh in the state in terms of payment made to the SHG, said the DPRO.
Under the scheme, the Pancayati Department Raj has signed the MoU with the women of SHGS.
SHG is paid a number of monthly Rs 9,000 per toilet, where women’s honorarium caregivers are Rs 6,000 and the remaining money is used for the items needed for the maintenance of the toilet.
Officials further inform you that there are 23 blocks of development and 1,540 Panchayats in this district.
“We have built 1,399 public toilets in this development block, and the maintenance of 929 toilets will be carried out by SHG,” Sinha said.
All of these public toilets have been given geographically.
A total of 66 public toilets have been marked in Blok Bahadurpur, 85 in Baharia, 42 in Bhagwatpur, 18 in Chakka, 102 in Handia, 51 in Holagarh, 63 in Jasra, 66 in Koudhiyara, 32 in Kaurihar, 84 in Koraon, 68 in Manda, 54 at the table, 68 in Phoolpur, 71 in Pratappur, 42 in Sesson, 78 in Shankabad, 48 in Shringverpur, 47 in Soraon and 57 public toilets have geographically in Urvan Panchayat, notifying the DPRO.
Sinha further informed that out of the target of 1,540 toilets, the construction of 1,399 toilets finished and the details have been uploaded on the Indian government website, the remaining toilet construction work will be completed in a month.
“There are six Gram Panchayats where we failed to find the land suitable for the construction of toilets,” Sinha said.
The 929 toilet that has been submitted to Pancrayat is managed by SHGS.
The Pancayati Department has paid money to 566 SHG to keep this toilet, he added.
