BELOGIVAVI: The water supply in the city is interrupted for eight days after protest by the Valvenation demands payment of delayed salaries.
Residents are made to depend on water tankers.
Tanker service providers, which usually get one or two calls every day, flooded with late requests.
Krishna, a supplier of water, said for the past four days he was busy supplying water to residents in the area that came in the southern part of the city.
Even though Valvemen has attracted their protests, they can continue again because full payment has not been carried out.
Maruthi, a resident of Bhavani Nagar, said some people in the area did not take a shower for several days to save water.
The last area received water on September 10.
“How can people leave without water for more than a week? On Tuesday, the corporation releases water, but it is lacking.
Salary problems are corporate problems, and must be resolved.
Civic’s body must ensure normal life is not affected,” he said.
Speaking to Toi, Mla Abhay Patil said he had spoken with the Valvenation, and the corporation had made payments now.
“The water supply has now continued but the area must wait until the day specified for water.
This has caused the inconvenience of many people.
But now, the problem has been resolved.
I will ensure the problem does not recur,” he said.
Raju Patil, a resident of Channamma Nagar, said his area had to wait another day to get water when the designated day was Wednesday.
“Some areas have received water, but it is not ours.
There are many people who cannot afford expensive water tankers.
Corporations must consider the tribulation of people before everything is uncontrollable,” Patil’s advice.
