Wasim Jaffer named Odisha coach head

Cuttack: The former test opener and Doyen Wasim Jaffer Domestic on Wednesday is the main coach of the senior Odisha side for the upcoming domestic season.
“He (Jaffer) will become head coach.
He has been given a two-year contract,” said Subrata Behera, CEO Odisha Cricket Association told PTI.
The decision was taken after the OCA Cricket Advisory Committee meeting because Jaffer would replace the former State captain Rashmi Ranjan Parida, who was in a helmet for two seasons.
“In addition to the development of cricket in all age groups, he (Jaffer) will also be part of the coach development program in all the states,” said Secretary Oca Sanjay Behera in a statement.
This will be the second task of Jaffer as the head coach of any country team.
Following his retirement in March 2020, Jaffer, who was a leading runner at Ranji Trophy, had trained Uttarakhand but he then resigned after going down with the association.
Jaffer, who has played 31 tests and 2 ODIS, is also a batting coach from Kings Xi Punjab, who plays in the Indian Premier League that is rich in cash.
Stalwart Mumbai, who then played for Vidarbha at the end of the FAG from his famous career to win the Ranji trophy and the Irani Cup.
The last Odisha reached the quarters in the 2019-20 season when they were lost and batting had become a team weakness for a long time.
The camp for the senior team is scheduled to start from July 25, subject to the approval of the state government that considers Covid-19 guidelines.
